Biei and Mount Daisetsuzan National Park

The first part of our tour, we will stay in Asahikawa for 2 nights, enjoying both landscape and wildlife photography. Biei is a picturesque small town surrounded by gentle rolling hills and vast fields. The almost 360° panoramic views from Mt Tokachi present a series of stunning landscapes that make everyone reach for there cameras. Beautiful patchwork-like landscapes, and steaming volcanic craters will leave you in Awe. Another incredibly beautiful spot is Biei is the Shirogane Blue Pond. The mystical blue color of the pond combined with uniformly erect dead trees creates fascinating artistic scenery.

In Mount Daisetsuzan National Park, we will be on the lookout for a super cute little animal, The Japanese Pika also known as the Northern Pika. In Japan, this interesting little creature can only be found in limited pockets of the Mount Daisetsuzan ountains range. Their habitat, very rocky mountain slopes which they use to avoid attacks from raptors, foxes and other natural predators and as a place to safely raise their babies.

    Teuri Island ~Seabird Breeding Ground~

Terui Island is a 27km (17 mile) offshore island near to Haboro Town in Hokkaido. From March to July, over one million seabirds made up of eight different species, come to the west coast of Terui Island annually. It is no exaggeration to say that this is the easiest place in the world to observe the Spectacled guillemots & Rhinoceros Auklets in their breeding ground. We will see the beautiful courtship already paired guillemots, and see dedicated parents return with food for their chicks at sunset, and enjoy the excitement & joy of the chicks as they eat. Just some of the rare sights that can only be seen during summer breeding season. June is the best month to observe and photograph unique Spectacled guillemots & Rhinoceros Auklets here on Teuri island.

Wakkanai, The most northern town of Japan

A unique place where we will spend our last night in Hokkaido. We will visit Cape Soya, the northernmost point of the main island of Hokkaido, with its beautiful landscapes & rounded rolling hills, an area designated as an Hokkaido Heritage site, a “periglacial landform” created by the slow movement of soil due to repeated freezing and thawing of the land during the last Ice Age.
