1 | March 30th, Day 1: get off shinkansen bullet train in Mishima station, and after a drive through a beautiful countryside, arrive at the hotel with its own hot springs Meet your guide late in the morning at your hotel and be prepared to board the first class seats (Green Car) of shinkansen bullet train bound for Mishima station by noon. It takes about an hour*. Arrive between noon and 2PM and take private transfer by car to Japanese-style hotel with hot springs. Enjoy 1-1.5 hrs ride across Japanese countryside, passing by Lake Yamanaka, one of five lakes around Mt Fuji, and stopping by to take in the sheer beauty of sakura cherry blossoms viewing spots. Check-in and take a dip in outdoor hot spring bath with a view Mt Fuji. Let thermal waters wash away fatigue and prepare you for kaiseki dinner, Japanese high-end banquet cuisine with the use of local ingredients. Eat your multicourse dinner around 7pm. AFTERNOON: mini-Naoshima: modern art, ancient architecture and Japanese gardens’ fengshui all in one place designed by famous modern artist In early afternoon, visit a unique art site created by one of Japan’s most famous modern artists and world-famous photographer, mixing ancient and modern architecture and art with feng-shui of Japanese gardens amidst ocean panorama. Super-photogenic, Instagrammable spot, its vast grounds and strict reservation-only policy ensure it never gets crowded. Take in the panoramic view and unique combination of modern art and ancient architectural objects, breath in the beauty of bamboo grove, massive stones and stone lanterns, lush colors of tangerine trees and ultra-modern elements like glass steps in the tea house. The guide will assist you getting to the nearest JR train station to take shinkansen bullet train back to Tokyo (less than an hour), or you can wait for your onward shinkansen to Kyoto at Odawara station, exploring its shops and cafes with most open until about 8pm. Decide in advance on the tour start timeOn the way from Tokyo to Mishima:
We will give you timed itinerary once we know you Tokyo hotel location. We recommend leaving in the morning or around noon at the latest. We can pick you up from any hotel in central Tokyo. Together with your guide, you will then take JR Tokaido Shinkansen, Izu Odoriko or Saphire with your guide to Mishima area – we will advise train times accordingly. We can also pick you up from Yokohama, Kamakura or Hakone (inform us of pick-up location details and pick-up time well in advance; the cost might be adjusted,)
On the way from Kyoto to Tokyo – your guide will meet you at train platform if you:
• Leave JR Kyoto station at 10:08 on Hikari502 Tokaido Shinkansen
> Arrive in JR Mishima station by noon and eat your pre-booked lunch in Mishima
• Leave JR Kyoto station at noon on Hikari506 Tokaido Shinkansen
>> Arrive in JR Mishima station by 2PM and head north towards Mt Fuji area
